Third-Party Verification & Independent Design Review

Independent verification of offshore structural, naval architecture and pipeline engineering: design reviews, re-analysis with our own models, structural integrity assessments and owner’s-engineer review of contractor deliverables. Our team has reviewed five jackets and topsides for an operator and assessed 39 ONGC jacket structures, and supports jack-up site assessments in ONGC, ADNOC and Aramco fields.

Third-Party Verification & Independent Design Review

What you receive

  • Design-basis and code-compliance review with a numbered comment register
  • Independent re-analysis: in-place, fatigue, seismic, pushover and transportation models built from the contractor’s drawings
  • Structural integrity and life-extension assessment (API RP 2A Section 17 / ISO 19902 Annex A)
  • Jack-up site-specific assessment review (SNAME T&R 5-5A / ISO 19905-1)
  • Stability, mooring and conversion engineering review for vessels
  • Close-out report stating what was verified, how, and what remains open

What independent verification means here

A third-party review is only useful when it is genuinely independent and genuinely technical. We do not audit paperwork; we rebuild the critical analyses in our own software from the contractor’s drawings and compare results, then trace every comment to a code clause or a design-basis requirement. The comment register, the re-analysis models and the close-out report are the deliverables the operator, the class society or the certifying authority sees.

Structural integrity and brownfield assessments

For assets past their design life the review becomes an assessment: survey data interpretation, corrosion and damage modelling, in-place and pushover analyses for reserve strength, and a requalification statement against API RP 2A Section 17 or ISO 19902. Our team surveyed and assessed 39 jacket structures for ONGC and reviewed five jackets and topsides in a single structural review scope.

Where TPV sits relative to class and MWS

Class approval verifies compliance with class rules for the vessel or unit. A marine warranty surveyor approves marine operations for the underwriter. Third-party verification is broader and owner-driven: it checks that the engineering meets the project design basis and the applicable codes, whether or not a class or MWS review also applies. We position ourselves as the verifier, never as the MWS on the same operation we engineered.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between third-party verification and class approval?

Class approval checks compliance with the classification society’s rules. Third-party verification is owner-driven and checks the engineering against the project design basis and all applicable codes, often by independent re-analysis, whether or not class also reviews it.

Do you rebuild the analysis models or review the contractor’s?

For critical items we rebuild the models in our own software from the drawings and compare results; for the rest we review the contractor’s models and reports and trace every comment to a code clause.

Can you verify a jack-up site-specific assessment?

Yes. We review SSAs against ISO 19905-1 and SNAME T&R 5-5A, including leg penetration, preload and storm-survival cases, and have supported jack-up assessments in ONGC, ADNOC and Aramco shallow-water fields.
