Offshore Engineering Support for the Gulf: UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait

Engineering support for EPC, T&I and fabrication contractors and jack-up operators working in the Arabian Gulf: jacket and topside engineering, sea-fastening and load-out packages, lifting engineering, jack-up site-specific assessment support and third-party design review, delivered from Mumbai in the same working day. Saudi Aramco and Lamprell are among our clients.

Proof points

  • Saudi Aramco and Lamprell on the client list
  • Jack-up site-specific assessment support (SNAME T&R 5-5A) for units in ONGC, ADNOC and Aramco shallow-water fields
  • Class approval and conversion engineering under ABS, DNV, LR and BV — the societies most used in the Gulf
  • Full-day working-hours overlap: 09:30–18:30 IST is 08:00–17:00 in the Gulf

The engineering-support route into Gulf projects

Direct registration with the national oil companies requires a local entity: Saudi Aramco needs a MISA-licensed Saudi company and IKTVA, ADNOC needs SAP Ariba pre-qualification and an ICV certificate, and QatarEnergy and PDO run their own supplier programmes. We therefore work for the EPC, T&I and fabrication contractors who hold those registrations — jacket and topside design support, transportation and installation engineering, production drawings and class approval — and we say so plainly rather than promising a route we cannot deliver.

For owners and operators the direct scopes are third-party design review, structural integrity assessment and jack-up site-specific assessment support, which are engineering deliverables rather than registered contractor services.

Regulators, class and codes

Fixed structures in the Gulf are engineered to API RP 2A and ISO 19902 with operator specifications (Aramco SAES, ADNOC standards); jack-ups to ISO 19905-1 / SNAME T&R 5-5A; vessels and barges under ABS, DNV, LR or BV. Marine operations follow DNV-ST-N001 under a marine warranty surveyor appointed by the contractor’s underwriter — we prepare the packages that surveyor approves.

How we deliver

We deliver from Mumbai with the whole team in one office, which keeps the engineering consistent and the rates at Indian engineering-hour levels. Working hours in India Standard Time (UTC+5:30) overlap the Gulf for the full day, Europe for the afternoon and Southeast Asia for the morning, so review calls, class correspondence and comment resolution happen the same day. Site supervision and surveys are delivered by our engineers travelling to the yard or offshore location.

Projects delivered here

Structural review — 5 jackets & topsidesIndependent review of structural deliverables for five offshore jackets and their topsides — design reports, calculations and drawings checked against applicable codes.Riser installation — 4 platforms, 16 liftsCrane vessel installation engineering for risers across 4 offshore platforms — vessel selection, installation analysis, and methodology for 16 lifts.Sea-fastening & load-out — crane on bargeSea-fastening design and load-out engineering for crane transportation on barge — 6 items secured for safe passage.

Services we deliver here

Sea Fastening & Load-out EngineeringSea-fastening and load-out engineering for cargo, modules and cranes carried on barges and heavy-transport vessels: motion and acceleration criteria, grillage and tie-down design, ballast and load-out sequences, and the calculation package prepared for marine warranty surveyor approval. Delivered from Mumbai to EPC, T&I and fabrication contractors in India, the Gulf, West Africa and Southeast Asia.Lifting & Heavy-Lift EngineeringLift engineering for offshore and yard lifts: rigging design, lift-point and padeye checks, dynamic amplification, crane-vessel and barge stability during the lift, and the lift plan calculations reviewed by class or a marine warranty surveyor. Our team has engineered 100+ heavy lifts, including riser and conductor installation campaigns on ONGC platforms.Third-Party Verification & Independent Design ReviewIndependent verification of offshore structural, naval architecture and pipeline engineering: design reviews, re-analysis with our own models, structural integrity assessments and owner’s-engineer review of contractor deliverables. Our team has reviewed five jackets and topsides for an operator and assessed 39 ONGC jacket structures, and supports jack-up site assessments in ONGC, ADNOC and Aramco fields.Class Approval Drawings & Statutory DocumentationClass approval drawings, calculations and statutory documents for newbuilds, conversions and modifications, prepared to the rules of ABS, DNV, LR, BV, IRS, NK, KR, BKI, RINA and CCS and taken through plan approval on the owner’s or yard’s behalf. Founder experience as an IRS surveyor means the package is written the way the reviewer reads it.OSV & Vessel Conversion EngineeringConversion engineering for offshore support and work vessels: OSV to well-stimulation vessel, barge to pipe-lay barge, tanker to FSO/FPSO and LNG carrier to FSRU. We deliver the feasibility study, the structural, stability and systems engineering and the class approval package, as on a 200-tonne-steel OSV-to-WSV conversion completed in Norway in 2024.

Frequently asked questions

Are you registered with Aramco or ADNOC?

Direct NOC registration requires a local entity, so we work through the EPC, T&I and fabrication contractors who hold those registrations. Saudi Aramco and Lamprell are among our clients.

What time-zone overlap do you have with the Gulf?

Our full working day. 09:30–18:30 IST is 08:00–17:00 in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, so review meetings and comment resolution happen the same day.
