Naval Architecture & Vessel Conversion Engineering for Norway and the North Sea

Remote engineering support for vessel owners, conversion yards and offshore contractors in Norway, the UK and the wider North Sea: OSV and PSV conversions, deck strengthening and class approval under DNV, stability and mooring analysis, and third-party design review. In 2024 our team engineered an OSV-to-well-stimulation-vessel conversion in Norway that added 200 tonnes of steel under DNV class.

Naval Architecture & Vessel Conversion Engineering for Norway and the North Sea

Proof points

  • OSV-to-WSV conversion in Norway, 2024: 200 tonnes of steel, DNV class approval
  • DNV, LR and BV rules in daily use; NORSOK N-004 for offshore structures
  • Afternoon overlap with Central European Time for same-day reviews

What North Sea clients use us for

The North Sea has a deep local engineering market; what a Mumbai team adds is capacity at Indian engineering-hour rates for well-defined packages: conversion feasibility and detailed design, class approval drawing packages, stability booklets, deck-strengthening and foundation design for new mission equipment, and independent re-analysis for verification. Norwegian and UK owners keep the project management and the yard relationship; we deliver the engineering hours.

Regulators, class and codes

Vessels under DNV, LR or BV class with Norwegian or UK flag requirements; offshore structures to NORSOK N-004 and ISO 19902; marine operations to DNV-ST-N001. Operators’ supplier qualification runs through Magnet JQS (formerly Achilles JQS) in Norway and Achilles FPAL in the UK — we register when a client scope requires it rather than pre-emptively.

How we deliver

We deliver from Mumbai with the whole team in one office, which keeps the engineering consistent and the rates at Indian engineering-hour levels. Working hours in India Standard Time (UTC+5:30) overlap the Gulf for the full day, Europe for the afternoon and Southeast Asia for the morning, so review calls, class correspondence and comment resolution happen the same day. Site supervision and surveys are delivered by our engineers travelling to the yard or offshore location.

Services we deliver here

OSV & Vessel Conversion EngineeringConversion engineering for offshore support and work vessels: OSV to well-stimulation vessel, barge to pipe-lay barge, tanker to FSO/FPSO and LNG carrier to FSRU. We deliver the feasibility study, the structural, stability and systems engineering and the class approval package, as on a 200-tonne-steel OSV-to-WSV conversion completed in Norway in 2024.Class Approval Drawings & Statutory DocumentationClass approval drawings, calculations and statutory documents for newbuilds, conversions and modifications, prepared to the rules of ABS, DNV, LR, BV, IRS, NK, KR, BKI, RINA and CCS and taken through plan approval on the owner’s or yard’s behalf. Founder experience as an IRS surveyor means the package is written the way the reviewer reads it.Third-Party Verification & Independent Design ReviewIndependent verification of offshore structural, naval architecture and pipeline engineering: design reviews, re-analysis with our own models, structural integrity assessments and owner’s-engineer review of contractor deliverables. Our team has reviewed five jackets and topsides for an operator and assessed 39 ONGC jacket structures, and supports jack-up site assessments in ONGC, ADNOC and Aramco fields.FSRU & LNG Terminal Engineering with Cryogenic PipingEngineering for FSRU conversions and LNG import terminals: regasification and hull interface structure, jetty berthing and mooring analysis, cryogenic piping design and stress analysis to ASME B31.3, and class and IGC Code compliance. Cryogenic piping is a capability few boutique consultancies hold, and it lets us take an FSRU or terminal scope from marine structure to the regas manifold.

Frequently asked questions

Have you delivered a project in Norway?

Yes. In 2024 our team engineered an OSV-to-well-stimulation-vessel conversion in Norway under DNV class, adding 200 tonnes of steel for the new mission equipment.

Are you registered on Magnet JQS or Achilles?

Not yet. Operator supplier qualification is registered when a client scope requires it; contractor and owner scopes proceed under direct purchase orders.
