Stability Booklets, Loading Manuals & Inclining Experiments

Intact and damage stability booklets, loading manuals and inclining experiment procedures and reports for offshore support vessels, barges, jack-ups and converted units, prepared to the IMO Intact Stability Code, SOLAS and the class rules and taken through class and flag approval. Required for every newbuild and after every conversion that moves lightship.

Stability Booklets, Loading Manuals & Inclining Experiments

What you receive

  • Hydrostatics, cross-curves and tank calibration tables (Maxsurf / NAPA / GHS)
  • Intact stability against IMO IS Code 2008, MODU Code or the applicable criteria; weather criterion where required
  • Damage stability (deterministic or probabilistic) and subdivision, including SPS Code for special-purpose ships
  • Loading manual with worked conditions and longitudinal strength checks
  • Inclining experiment procedure, attendance, report and lightship certificate inputs
  • Class and flag submission and comment resolution; loading-computer data where fitted

When stability work is required

Newbuilds; any conversion or modification that changes lightship or its centre of gravity beyond the flag’s tolerance; a change of service or notation (an OSV becoming a WSV or an SPS-coded unit, a barge becoming a pipe-lay barge); and re-approval after an inclining experiment. We delivered the stability re-assessment for a 200-tonne-steel OSV-to-WSV conversion in Norway under DNV and support pre-purchase surveys with a stability review.

Software and class

Maxsurf Stability, NAPA and GHS depending on the class society’s preference, with ShipConstructor or Rhino for the hull model. Submissions to ABS, DNV, LR, BV, IRS, NK, KR, BKI, RINA and CCS.

Frequently asked questions

Do you attend the inclining experiment?

Yes. We write the procedure, attend with the class or flag surveyor, and issue the report that derives the new lightship for the stability booklet.
