Life Extension & Structural Integrity Assessment

Structural integrity management and life-extension assessment for fixed platforms past their design life: survey data interpretation, corrosion and damage modelling, in-place, fatigue and pushover analysis for reserve strength, and a requalification statement to API RP 2A Section 17 / ISO 19902 Annex A. Our team surveyed and assessed 39 ONGC jacket structures.

Life Extension & Structural Integrity Assessment

What you receive

  • Survey scope definition and interpretation of UT, CVI, marine-growth and anode data
  • As-is structural model with corrosion, dents, cracks and missing members
  • In-place, spectral fatigue (DNV-RP-C203) and seismic (API RP 2EQ) re-analysis
  • Pushover analysis and reserve strength ratio; RSR-based acceptance
  • Requalification report to API RP 2A Section 17 / ISO 19902 Annex A with repair and inspection plan
  • Owner’s engineer support for the regulator or certifier review

Assessment, not re-design

An ageing platform will rarely pass a new-design check; it does not need to. The assessment route in API RP 2A Section 17 and ISO 19902 Annex A allows fitness for purpose to be demonstrated by ultimate-strength (pushover) analysis and a targeted inspection plan. We build the as-is model from the survey, run the linear checks to find what governs, then demonstrate reserve strength where it matters and recommend the smallest effective repair.

Track record

39 ONGC jacket structures surveyed and assessed in one campaign; a five-jacket-and-topside structural review; riser and conductor installation on producing platforms. Delivered from Mumbai with site surveys by our own engineers.

Frequently asked questions

Can a platform past its design life be kept in service?

Usually yes, through the assessment route in API RP 2A Section 17 / ISO 19902 Annex A: an as-is model from survey data, fatigue and pushover analysis to show reserve strength, and a targeted repair and inspection plan.
