Stability booklet (trim and stability booklet)

A stability booklet is the class- and flag-approved document that gives a vessel’s master the lightship data, hydrostatics, tank capacities and worked loading conditions needed to keep the ship within the intact and, where required, damage stability criteria of the IMO Intact Stability Code, SOLAS and the applicable class rules.

Stability booklet (trim and stability booklet)

When it must be redone

After any conversion or modification that changes lightship weight or centre of gravity beyond the flag’s tolerance — typically confirmed by a new inclining experiment — and when the vessel’s service or notation changes.
