Well stimulation vessel (WSV)

A well stimulation vessel is an offshore support vessel fitted with high-pressure pumping, blending and acid or proppant storage systems to perform fracturing and acidising treatments on offshore wells from the vessel rather than from the platform. Many WSVs are conversions of platform supply vessels, which requires deck strengthening, new tanks and a revised stability case.

Conversion engineering

Deck-strength survey and reinforcement for the stimulation skids, tank additions for acid and chemicals, structural foundations, intact and damage stability re-assessment and class approval for the new notation. Our team added 200 tonnes of steel converting an OSV to a WSV in Norway under DNV class.

Services we deliver here

OSV & Vessel Conversion EngineeringConversion engineering for offshore support and work vessels: OSV to well-stimulation vessel, barge to pipe-lay barge, tanker to FSO/FPSO and LNG carrier to FSRU. We deliver the feasibility study, the structural, stability and systems engineering and the class approval package, as on a 200-tonne-steel OSV-to-WSV conversion completed in Norway in 2024.
