Structural integrity management (SIM)

Structural integrity management is the ongoing process of assessing, inspecting, monitoring and, where necessary, strengthening an offshore structure so it stays fit for purpose through and beyond its design life. API RP 2SIM and ISO 19902 set the framework; the assessment step uses in-place, fatigue and pushover analyses against survey data.

Structural integrity management (SIM)

Life extension

When a platform approaches or passes its design life, the SIM assessment becomes a requalification: survey findings and corrosion are modelled, reserve strength is checked by pushover analysis, and a statement of fitness is issued against API RP 2A Section 17 or ISO 19902 Annex A.

Projects delivered here

Jacket face survey — 39 platformsStructural assessment of 39 jacket faces for riser and clamp installation — ONGC-approved hand sketches, drawings, and survey reports.Structural review — 5 jackets & topsidesIndependent review of structural deliverables for five offshore jackets and their topsides — design reports, calculations and drawings checked against applicable codes.

Services we deliver here

Third-Party Verification & Independent Design ReviewIndependent verification of offshore structural, naval architecture and pipeline engineering: design reviews, re-analysis with our own models, structural integrity assessments and owner’s-engineer review of contractor deliverables. Our team has reviewed five jackets and topsides for an operator and assessed 39 ONGC jacket structures, and supports jack-up site assessments in ONGC, ADNOC and Aramco fields.
