Glossary

Load-out

A load-out is the operation of moving a fabricated structure — a jacket, module, topside or vessel section — from the quay onto a barge or heavy-transport vessel, by skidding, by self-propelled modular trailers (SPMTs), by lifting, or by floating. The engineering controls the barge ballast against the tide so the link beams stay within tolerance at every step.

Load-out

What is analysed

Skid or trailer reactions and the quay and barge deck strength; the ballast sequence and barge trim, heel and draft at each step; barge longitudinal strength and intact stability at every stage; mooring loads on the barge; and the sea-fastening that follows once the cargo is in position.
